David Sinow

Clinical Professor of Finance

Biographical Sketch

David M. Sinow is a clinical professor of finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds four degrees from the University of Illinois, including a Juris Doctor and a Ph.D. Professor Sinow has been a member of the Department of Finance since 1990 and has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards. He teaches courses in the areas of wealth management, insurance, employee benefits, and financial markets. His current efforts include the establishment of the Office of Risk Management and Insurance Research in the College of Business. The office will partner with major insurance and risk management firms throughout the country in cutting edge research projects.

Professor Sinow is the host of a monthly wealth management program on public radio. The program has been on the air for more than twelve years. A sought-after speaker, he has lectured and presented seminars to more than 10,000 professionals on topics of investing and retirement. He also provided the International Board of Standards for Certified Financial Planners with the first demonstration essay question for the national CFP exam.

A licensed attorney, Professor Sinow was the co-founder and former CEO of Strategic Capital Bancorp, Inc., whose subsidiaries include an Illinois chartered bank and trust company with assets under care in excess of $350 million. He has held numerous directorships on bank boards and charitable foundations.
