Finance’s Neil Pearson wins graduate teaching excellence award
Neil Pearson, professor of finance and Harry A. Brandt Distinguished Professor of Financial Markets and Options, received the Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Teaching. He will be recognized at the Celebration of Teaching Excellence on April 22.
Recipients—who are nominated and selected by their colleagues—demonstrate innovative teaching approaches, make a positive impact on student learning, engage students in the classroom, mentor graduate teaching assistants, and make multidimensional contributions to graduate teaching beyond the classroom.
Pearson teaches courses in financial derivatives, financial engineering, and financial risk management. His research includes both theoretical and empirical work on asset pricing and the valuation and hedging of financial derivatives and other financial instruments. Pearson is an associate editor of the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Economics Bulletin and is the author of Risk Budgeting: Portfolio Problem Solving with Value-at-Risk. He was listed among the “Most Popular Professors” at the University of Illinois in the BusinessWeek Guide to the Best Business Schools, and consistently appears on the University’s List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent.
Congratulations to Neil Pearson for this outstanding accomplishment!
