The China Challenge

Investment Challenge for University of Illinois Students

The China Challenge uses the University of Illinois Securities Exchange Simulation (UISES) investment simulation to give University of Illinois students - regardless of campus or major - practical experience with investments in China.

Wind Logo The simulation provides each student with a ¥6,000,000 portfolio and an on-line brokerage account from which the student buys and sells equities. Daily closing prices from the Shanghai and Shenzhen Exchanges are provided courtesy of Wind Information.

Time Zone Note

The Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges close at 3pm in China. This is 2am in Illinois. Keep in mind that, by UISES rule orders must be placed before the market close. This means that an order places by 1:59am will execute at the market closing price that same day. Orders placed after 2am will execute when the market closes the following day.
