Professor Palekar transferred from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at UIUC where he served as the Director of the Logistics and Supply Chain Optimization Laboratory.   His recent research interests are in the areas of supply chain management, and marketing models for product assortment planning, promotion planning, and assortment pricing.

Current research examines issues surrounding the role of trust in distribution channel relationships, performance measurement in the supply chain management practices, and new product development.
