Charles A. Bowsher (BS Accountancy), comptroller General of the U.S., head of the General Accounting Office since 1981, was cited as one of the "100 most influential people in accounting" by Accounting Today magazine. He serves on the college's Business Advisory Council.

Charles Larson (BS Accountancy and Finance), managing director of larson Consulting was named in Accounting Today magazine as one of the "100 most influential people in accounting." Besides the influence of his nationwide consulting to other firms, he founded two nationally recognized MAP conferences and remains the leading force at the Missouri MAP conference.Howard Stone (BS Accountancy), managing partner and chairman of Altschuler, Melvoin & Glasser, was named as one of the "100 most influential people in accounting" by Accounting Today magazine Stone is on the college's Alumni Board.

Howard L. Wagner (BS Marketing) has been promoted to vice president for manufacturing for Helen Curtis. Wagner joined the company in 1980. He and his wife live in Inverness, Illinois. The have two grown children.

W. Gary Winget (BS Commerce Law) and his company Export Resource Associate, Inc., where selected to receive the President's "E" Award for Excellence in Export Service. In announcing the award las November, U.S.. Department of Commerce Secretary Ron Brown cited Winget's company for its "outstanding contribution to the increase in U.S. trade abroad."

Winget lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, and works from office in St. Paul and Chicago.

Richard H. Frank (BS Marketing) has been named chairman of the newly created Walt Disney Television and Telecommunications. Previously he was president of Disney Studios. He serves on the college's Business Advisory Council.

James B. Ghartey, Jr. (PhD, MAS 1969) has been appointed Controller and Accountant General of the Republic of Ghana.Philip J. Lester II (BS Finance) became vice president and senior lending officer of the Mount Greenwood Bank of Chicago last January.Sandra Gustavson (PhD Finance, MS Finance '76, BS Actuarial Science '75), insurance professor and head of the Department of Insurance, Legal Studies, Real Estate and Management Science at the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, Athens, was named the Bradford McFadden Professor of Personal Financial Management. Gustavson was named Insurance Educator of the Year by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents.
Thomas C. Kaufmann (BS Accountancy, JD '84) is a partner in the law firm of Querrey Harrow, Chicago. Kaufmann specializes in banking, real estate, estate planning, probate, commercial litigation, and professional liability defense. He and his wife Mary live in Naperville. William H. Chamberlin (BS Finance) is a market management consultant with IBM> last year he married Jennifer Park , an IBM integrated marketing representative, in Chicago. Bill and Jennifer live in Elk Grove Village.Craig P. Eddy (BS Economics) is now president and CEO of Costal Aluminum Rolling Mills, Inc., Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Eddy also holds an MBA from Washington University, St. Louis. Since he lives in McElhattan, Pennsylvania, near Penn State, he told us that he is looking forward to Illini visits to his area.
Betty T. Latson (BS Finance) is a first vice president of the LaSalle National Bank of Chicago. She received her MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. David R. Roehr (BS Accountancy) is a manager with the public accounting firm of David P. Hartman & Co. in Park Ridge, Illinois. He lives in Wood Dale with his wife Diane and sons Kevin Bradley born in April 1993 and five year old Michael David. Philip E. Ruben (BS Accountancy) is a partner in the law firm of Kwiatt & Silverman, Ltd., in Northfield, Illinois, where he represents numerous public companies in acquisitions, divestitures, securities offerings and bank financing. He and his family live in Northbook.
Michael S. Loeffler (BS finance) is now a partner in the law firm of Querrey Harrow, Chicago. He received his JD from UCLA in 1985. He concentrates his practice on the areas of professional liability, director's and officer's and general insurance coverage, as well as professional and liability defense.Steven M. Cohen (BS Finance) was promoted last December to vice president of the LaSalle National Bank, Chicago. He lives in Wheeling.David R. Dlugie (MS Accountancy, BS Accountancy '81, JD '86) of Highland Park, Illinois has been elected a partner in the real estate department at the Chicago branch of the national law firm of Katten Muchin & Zavis.
Monyca Price Flack (BS Finance) is a Product Manager for American Airlines, SABRE technology group in Dallas, Texas, where she lives with her husband Steven and daughter Mara Lauren, born in July 1993. David J. Kanzler (BS Accountancy) has his own health care consulting practice in Chicago where he lives with his wife the former Nancy I> Bingham. The couple were married in September of 1993.Scott E. Fetich (MBA, BS History '82) was elected a shareholder in the law firm of Davis & Kuelthau, s.c., Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fetich focuses his practice on corporate, commercial finance and international law. He received a law degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Maria Becker (BS Accountancy) is a senior manager at McGladrey & Pullen in Champaign. She joined the firm after graduation, and specializes in financial institutions.Scott Burnett Brown (MAS) was married to Janet Carol Steiner in August 1993. He is the chief financial officer at Tile Specialists Inc., Champaign.Andrew J. Dahle (MAS, BS Accountancy '83) and his wife Lynn had a first child, James Ethan, October 22, 1993. Dahle works for Arthur Andersen & Co. The family lives in Woodridge.
Mitchell J. Manassa (BS Accountancy) has been elected to the partnership of KPMG Peat Marwick. He works in the Chicago office, specializing in mergers and acquisitions.Richard M. Rudy (BS Accountancy) is working for AMTEC Precision Products, Inc., in Elgin, Illinois, as vice president for finance. Richard, his wife Sharon, and son David (August 9, 1993) live in Buffalo Grove.Rick L. Smith (BS Finance) last November joined the Los Angeles investment banking firm of Kirkland Messina, where he specializes in raising capital for companies, buying and selling companies, and advising companies in financial transactions.

Jeffrey A. Combs (BS Accountancy) has joined the certified public accounting firm of Dunbar, Breitweiser & Co., Bloomington, Illinois. Jeff is a senior accountant with seven years experience in tax services. Before joining Dunbar Breirweiser, he was a senior accountant with Clifton, Gunderson Co. in Peoria.

Janet M. Helms (BS Finance) and Roy E. Plote (BS Agriculture '90) were married in September 1993 in Belleville, Illinois. Janet is a National Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller in Rockford and Roy farms near Leland, Illinois.Lorie Eisenkamp (BS Accountancy) was married in July 1993.Maria Maravelas (BS Finance) was married to Spiro G. Deligiannis (attended UI 1989-90) last October. Both work for Maravela's Banquet and Catering Facility in Fox Lake, Illinois. Spiro is chef and Maria is the general manager of the family business. The couple lives in Round Lake Beach, Illinois.
Cassandra D. Meiners (BS Accountancy) has joined the CPA firm of Dunbar, Breitweiser & Co., Bloomington, Illinois. Cassandra, a resident of Anchor, is an accountant in audit and accounting services. She has two years experience in industry and public accounting with Elco Industries in Rockford and two years of public accounting experience at the Illinois Agricultural Auditing Association in Bloomington.Kimpa Moss (MS Accountancy, BS '84) is a senior manager at McGladrey & Pullen in Champaign. She also earned a masters degree in taxation from DePaul University. Moss specializes in taxation research, and planning, the taxation of financial institutions, and compliance for corporate and individual taxpayers.Antonio Sy, Jr. (MBA) has returned to his native Philippines to assume the position of vice president for manufacturing and finance at Marton Manufacturing, Philippines, Inc., Valenzuela, Philippines, a wire and cable manufacturing concern. He has spent the past three years as a systems analyst at General Electric Company Appliances in Louisville, Kentucky.
