University of Illinois - University of Warsaw MBA Program

Fifty-one students received joint MBA degrees from the University of Illinois and the University of Warsaw on March 11, 1995, during ceremonies held at the Kazimierzowski Palace in Warsaw. The graduation ceremony was followed by a reception and dinner at the Royal Palace. The Commencement address was given by MICHAEL TOKARZ, a 1973 graduate of the University of Illinois MBA program and currently a partner at Kohklberg, Karvis and Roberts. Dean Howard Thomas gave the greetings from the College of Commerce and Business Others from the University of Illinois who participated in the festivities include Willard Bunn, III, senior vice president and managing director of the Chicago Corporation and chairperson of the college's Business Advisory Council, Professor Case Sprinkle, director of the MBA program with Warsaw, and Kevin Fertig, director of the University of Illinois executive MBA program. W. Siwinski, rector of the University of Warsaw, presided over the ceremonies, and Professors A. Kozminskiand K. Obloj of the International Postgraduate Management Center of the University of Warsaw also spoke.

This cohort of fifty-one students is the second to graduate. The third, and last cohort to receive University of Illinois MBA degrees will graduate in March 1996. Although we will continue to participate in the program after 1996, we will do so less formally. Future cohorts, including the class entering this fall, will receive certificates from the University of Illinois along with their Warsaw MBA. The quality of the students in the program has been extraordinarily high, and the incoming class is every bit as qualified as the previous ones so the program remains on track to be a long-run success.

The program has been made possible by the generous financial support of the Andrew Mellon and Ford Foundations.
