Nolan H. Miller
Nolan H. Miller is Professor of Finance and Julian Simon Faculty Fellow in the College of Business and Director of the Center for Business and Public Policy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
Professor Miller studies the economics of information and incentives across a wide range of topics, including healthcare, the environment, economic development, insurance, industrial organization and competitive strategy, and his work on these issues has been published in journals such as The American Economic Review, The Review of Economics and Statistics, The Journal of Health Economics, Management Science, and The RAND Journal of Economics, among others. His ongoing work on the impact of temperature and pollution shocks on the elderly using Medicare data is supported by a 5-year grant from the National Instiute on Aging.
He served as an Editor of the Berkeley Electronic Journal on Economic Analysis and Policy, and as an Associate Editor of The Review of Economics and Statistics and the Berkeley Electronic Journals on Theoretical Economics.
Prior to coming to the University of Illinois in 2009, Dr. Miller was an Associate Professor of Public Policy at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and holds bachelor’s degrees in business (Wharton) and philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania.
