CIBER Renewed

CIBER logoThe U.S. Department of Education is continuing funding for the College of Business Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) for the period 2006-2010. The award provides $331,000 annually for the Center.

Professor of Business Administration Randall Westgren along with CIBER Associate Director Lynnea Johnson and Project Coordinator LB Frye developed the proposal to the Department of Education. Westgren will become the director of Illinois CIBER in August. Joe Cheng is stepping down in August after seven years.

"The award is a testimony to the quality of our CIBER program and the intellectual contributions of the faculty of this College," Said Dean Avijit Ghosh when announcing the additional years of funding.

Illinois CIBER's mission is to train future business leaders to compete in the global marketplace by equipping them with the tools they need: foreign language, knowledge of foreign culture, familiarity with the business environment abroad, and fundamentals of international business, management, marketing, and strategy. The Illinois CIBER is one of approximately 30 such centers around the country.
