Business Alumni Lead UIAA

9/27/2006

Where better to look than College of Business alumni for leadership on the University of Illinois Alumni Association Board of Directors?

The new board chair is Mary Kay Kretch Haben ’77, senior vice president of open innovation for Kraft Foods Inc. in Northfield. She has held various executive positions at Kraft since 1979 and serves as vice chair of the UI Business Advisory Group.

“With more than a half million University of Illinois alumni around the world, our involvement is a tremendous asset for the University,” Haben said. “I am pleased to help the UI Alumni Association facilitate that relationship by increasing our emphasis on better information, communication and opportunities for engagement and interaction,” she added.

Thomas D. Vogelsinger ’73, MBA ’74 is vice chair of the UIAA board. Based in Chicago, he is partner and chief operating officer of Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services practice for the United States and Canada. Vogelsinger has spent more than 30 years in the audit practice and served as an executive-in-residence at the U of I.

“We just introduced a valuable new UIAA member benefit in conjunction with the University Library – to provide online access to thousands of magazines and professional journals,” Vogelsinger said. “This is a great example of how we can better serve our alumni and work together to everyone’s benefit.”

David J. Seiler ’77 serves as board secretary. He is partner at McGladrey & Pullen in Champaign.

“We’re utilizing the newly constructed Alice Campbell Alumni Center to make better connections between alumni and students,” Seiler said. “As an example, a group of UI alumni from McGladrey will host an October reception at the Alumni Center for Business students we will interview the next day. Connecting students with alumni will make them feel all the more a part of the Illinois family.”
