New CIBER Director Announced

The College of Business is pleased to announce that Glenn Hoetker, Associate Professor of Business
Administration, has accepted the position of Director of the Center for International
Business Education and Research (CIBER), a joint center of the College of Business and
the Office of International Programs and Studies. Glenn succeeds Randall Westgren who
served as CIBER Director since 2006.

Glenn, who holds additional appointments in Law and the Institute for Genomic Biology,
joined the strategy faculty in the Department of Business Administration in 2001, after
earning his Ph.D. in international business and a Masters of Applied Economics at the
University of Michigan. He also holds an M.S. in Library and Information Science from
the University of Illinois and a B.A. in Japanese Studies and Mathematics from Earlham
College. He is active in the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management,
and the Academy of International Business.

Glenn currently teaches strategy and technology management courses at the
undergraduate, masters, executive and doctoral levels. His research and teaching interests
include inter-firm relationships, the management of innovation, and the effect of national
institutions on both. He is particularly interested in the economy and institutions of Japan.
He is a member of the editorial review boards for the Academy of Management Journal,
Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science.

Glenn’s international engagement on campus include chairing the Science and
Technology in the Pacific Century initiative of the University's Center for Advanced
Studies, and serving on the Center for East Asian & Pacific Studies' Advisory Council.
The unique combination of international expertise, outstanding research, and exemplary
service make Glenn an ideal choice for building on the strong foundation that Randy
Westgren and his predecessors built as directors of CIBER. We look forward to working
with Glenn over the coming years to make CIBER an even more dynamic center for
international business research, teaching, and outreach.
