MS Tax Program's Convocation Ceremony
The MS Tax Program’s Convocation Ceremony for its 4th graduating class was held on May 3rd at the University Club in Chicago. The 29 students graduating received a Masters of Science in Taxation (MST) degree. Over 200 guests were in attendance for the celebration, including family and friends from as far away as China and Great Britain.
The commencement speaker was Dr. Larry DeBrock, Dean of the College of Business. He emphasized the professional responsibility of every graduate and the linkage of how that reflected on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Similarly, he encouraged the graduates to hold the University and the College of Business to their highest standards so that their degree would remain the outstanding credential it is today in the years to come. Among the other speakers were Lindsey Serrate of the Class of 2006, Marilyn Gerdes of the MS Tax Program Board of Advisors, and Josh Johnson of the Class of 2009. Each gave their perspectives on the program and the impact it has on its graduates.
The MS Tax Program is a one year executive-style program designed for working tax professionals. All classes are held at the Illini Center in Chicago and begin the first Saturday in May with students earning their MST in 12 months.
