First Busey Corporation Elects Gregory B. Lykins as Board Chairman
On June 16, 2009, the First Busey Corporation Board of Directors elected Gregory B. Lykins as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Lykins previously served as Chairman of the Board of Main Street Bank & Trust and has served as Vice-Chair of First Busey Corporation since 2007.
As Board Chairman, Lykins facilitates strategy, structure and communications between First Busey Corporation, the Board of Directors, and its shareholders. He also joins First Busey CEO Van Dukeman in speaking with investment firms, seeking new business development opportunities and exploring acquisition and merger possibilities.
Lykins received his bachelor's degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1969. He is a certified public accountant and former partner with McGladrey & Pullen, a national accounting and consulting firm.
In addition to various civic and social engagements, Lykins is currently a director of the University of Illinois Foundation and the Champaign County YMCA, as well as several private companies. He has served on the boards of the Carle Foundation, the Parkland College Foundation and the United Way of Champaign County.
