Flash Index released for December
The Flash Index of Economic Growth, released monthly by economist J. Fred
Giertz, indicated that the Illinois economy ended on a "down note."
The index fell to 97.8 in December from its 98.0 reading in November.
When the index is below 100, the economy is in decline. According to Giertz,
the recession is modest by historical standards.
