Legacy Committee Members

Jawwad Akhtar is a senior from Shorewood, Illinois double majoring in Finance and Accountancy. He is beginning his career with Robert W. Baird & Co., a middle-market investment bank, after an internship there this past summer. During the summer of 2007, he worked for Deloitte & Touche LLP as an audit intern in the New York branch office. Jawwad is also a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, where he served as Treasurer, and The FIRM Investment Banking Club. He is excited to be leading the Legacy Campaign after seeing it grow larger and larger each year. He has found that Legacy is a great way to further the reputation of our College of Business and strengthening our alumni relations, and is looking forward to a very successful year.


Mahreen Younus is a senior majoring in Accountancy with a minor in Technology & Management. She spent the summer of 2007 interning at Deloitte, perfoming external audit services. She spent this past summer working in the technology risk field at Protiviti, a risk consulting firm. During the winter of 07-08, she participated in a winter study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain and at the end of the spring '08 semester she partcipated in a mock international business trip to China, where she visited cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, Tianjin and Shanghai. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Illinois Business Consulting and the Muslim Students Association. Mahreen is honored to be a part of the Legacy Campaign this year because she feels the College of Business has done so much for each and every one of its students and this is definitely a great way to give back to the college and end her college career.


Allison Gruender is a senior pursuing degrees in both Finance and Accountancy. She is involved in Phi Gamma Nu, a professional business fraternity, and Beta Alpha Psi. She spent this past summer in Chicago doing a tax internship with Deloitte. Allison is looking forward to having the opportunity to give back to the College of Business and contribute to the Legacy Campaign's growing success.


Kevin Adams is a senior from Naperville, Illinois studying Finance. He currently serves as President of Phi Gamma Nu. Kevin spent this past summer with Magnetar Capital LLC as an intern in the Fund Control Group. He is excited to work on the Legacy committee and thinks that committee can have a large impact on future students in the College of Business. He has taken advantage of so much the College has to offer and cannot wait to give something meaningful back.


Sade Balogun is a senior from Chicago, IL. She is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Last spring semester she studied Business and Italian in Milan, Italy; and this summer she is interning with Kohl's Corporate in Menomonee Falls, WI. Sade is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, and she also serves as Treasurer on the University's club basketball team. Being a part of the 2009 Legacy Campaign gives Sade a great sense of pride because she has always wanted to make a difference and give back to the institution that has given her so much.  


Amanda Garcia is a Senior in Business Administration with a Marketing focus, and minoring in Spanish. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Pi and also volunteers as a Big Buddy for the College of Business. She spent the first two summers of her college career in a Pharmacy Marketing position at Walgreens, and joined Uline for an internship in Marketing this past summer. She is excited to be a part of an organization that helps current and former students give back to a school that has afforded them so many opportunities.


Sarah McDaniel is a senior majoring in Accounting and Finance.  Sarah is involved with Delta Sigma Pi, Literacy Love and Learning, and the Business Honors Program. Over the last two summers, Sarah has interned at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Internal Audit Services group and at Navigant Consulting, Inc. in the Disputes and Investigations group.  She is excited to be a part of Legacy so she can give back to the College of Business.


   Suzanne Ekblad is a senior majoring in Marketing from Elmhurst, Illinois.    On campus, Suzanne was the Vice President Operations of Business Council and the Vice President Public Relations of Kappa Delta Social Sorority.  She just returned from a semester studying in Manchester, England and spent the summer interning in the marketing department at Discover Financial Services.  She is very excited and looking forward to giving back to the college through the Legacy Campaign.


Tony Griglione is a senior in Accounting planning to graduate in May and begin the Master's of Accounting Science program here at the University of Illinois.  He is very involved in Business Council, currently serving as President.  Last summer, Tony interned with Deloitte & Touche in the Chicago External Audit practice.  In his free time, Tony really enjoys golfing.  He is excited to be a part of the 2009 Legacy Campaign and hopes to see the Class of '09 give back to the College that provides endless opportunities to its students.


Emily Thompson is a junior majoring in Accountancy from Orland Park, Illinois. After returning from an incredible semester abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand, Emily is looking forward to joining the Legacy Campaign and resuming her role as Philanthropy Chair for Phi Gamma Nu Professional Business Fraternity and also being an active consultant for OTCR. In her spare time, Emily enjoys reading, listening to music, and traveling. Emily hopes that by joining the Legacy she will be able to have a positive impact on the College of Business and encourage others to do the same.


Justin Wishne is a senior majoring in Marketing and International Business. He grew up in Hoffman Estates, IL and now lives in Wauconda, IL.  Justin is also the President of the American Marketing Association and a Public Relations Committee Chair on Business Council. He has held marketing internships with Motorola and Discover Financial Services. He joined the Legacy Campaign because it is an excellent opportunity for current students to begin giving back to the College of Business and for the Class of 2009 to leave a lasting impression on the University.


Janet Lee is a junior studying Accountancy from Glenview, IL.  On campus she is a member of the Business Honors Program and an active member of Phi Gamma Nu.  She also works as a tour guide for the Campus Visitor's Center.  She interned with the American Parkinsons Disease Assocation in the summer of 2007.  She just spent the Spring 2008 semester studying abroad in Vienna, Austria, and had the best semester of her life traveling through Europe, learning German, and studying business with students from all over the world.  She is proud of where the College of Business has brought her so far and sees the Legacy Campaign as the best outlet to give back to the College, and as a way to help other students learn how they can give back as well. 


Garrett Whitsitt is a junior from Mahomet, IL. He is currently seeking a degree in International Business accompanied by a minor in French. This past summer, he studied abroad in Avignon, France to increase his language skills. He is presently serving as Global Initiator for Alpha Kappa Psi and is also a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He feels that holding a position for this years Legacy Campaign will enable him to both give back and strengthen the University's community.


Phil Nguyen is a junior in Finance and Accountancy from Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He is an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity as well as secretary of his social fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi. This last summer he had the opportunity to intern abroad at a hedge fund in Singapore as an operations analyst. Phil is looking forward to participating in the Legacy Campaign to make the College of Business a better place for students, faculty, and alumni.


Jamie Postlewait is a senior in Accountancy.  Jamie is involved in Illini Pride where she is a member of both Block I and Orange Krush and is also involved with her sorority Alpha Delta Pi, where she currently serves as President.  She completed a Corporate Accounting Internship with Caterpillar during the summer of 2008 where she worked as a Cost Accountant supporting the Quarry and Construction Trucks Division.  Jamie believes that the Legacy Campaign provides an opportunity to give back to the College of Business and she looks forward to a successful Campaign for 2009!


Sarah Stickel is a senior from Buffalo Grove, Illinois majoring in Accountancy.  She spent this past summer working as an audit intern with BDO Seidman LLP in Chicago.  On campus, Sarah has been involved in her sorority and served as Executive Vice President last year.  She is looking forward to contributing to the success of the Legacy Campaign to give back to the College of Business.


Brian Selman is a Senior from Minooka, IL majoring in Business Administration: MIS with a minor in Technology & Management.  He interned this past summer with Ernst & Young's Technology and Security Risk Services Division in Chicago.  Brian enjoys being involved on campus, whether it is planning events for Business Council or through his role as a Resident Advisor.  He is proud to be part of the Legacy campaign and hopes to help give back to the College that has introduced him to so many great people and possibilities.


Michelle DeKeyrel is a senior from Illinois City, IL (near the Quad Cities) currently pursuing a degree in Marketing.  Her past involvement in both the College of Business and university-wide has been as a former New Members Chair and Internal Vice President of Business Council, New Member Coordinator of a social sorority, and participation in Student Alumni Ambassadors.  In addition to the Legacy Committee Michelle will be serving as the Business Administration Seat in the Illinois Student Senate.  Michelle spent her last semester studying in Singapore and traveling throughout Southeast Asia.  Her past summer was spent in the metro D.C. area as a Marketing Intern with Time Warner Cable Business Services, working primarily within the Enterprise and SMB/SOHO segments;  Additional internship experience includes a marketing internship with a small, local asset management firm, student marketing manager for Daily Illini/Buzz, and with State Farm Insurance as a Global Business Analysis Intern.   Michelle could not be more excited to get this year's 2009 Legacy Campaign kicked off and is dedicated to making it the most successful thus far.



Nicole is a senior majoring in Finance and Marketing from Addison, Illinois. She is actively involved in Alpha Kappa Psi and is Vice President of External Affairs for Fall 2008. She has spent the last two summers interning for Procter & Gamble in their Customer Business Development group. She studied abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong in Spring 2007. She believes that by being on the Legacy Committee she can give back to a University that has given her so much over the last four years and impact the future students of the College.


Taylor How is a senior majoring in Marketing and Finance from Palatine, IL. During the summer of 2008, she worked as a research assistant for Professor Jay Wang in the Finance Department at the University of Illinois. She spent the previous two summers as an account coordination intern at Rhea and Kaiser Marketing Communications and as a financial advising intern at Ameriprise Financial. She is a member of the Business Honors Program and the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. I am honored to be a part of the Class of 2009 Legacy Campaign because it is my chance to give back to the University that has provided me with an excellent education and an unforgettable college experience.


Amanda Lerner is a Senior majoring in finance. In addition to serving as an assistant director on the Legacy Campaign, she is also a member of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity. She is serving as the Treasurer on the executive board for the spring and fall semesters of 2008. Over the summer she worked in equipment lease financing at Continental Financial. Amanda feels that by participating in the Senior Legacy Campaign she will be able to give back to the University in a bigger way than would have been possible on her own.


Justine Lee is a senior in Accounting from Long Grove, Illinois. She is currently the Co-Director of the Asian Pacific American Coalition and a Fred H. Turner Fellow for the Office of Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. She is also an active member of Business Council. This past summer, Justine interned with Crowe Chizek in Risk Consulting. She is excited to be a part of the Legacy Campaign and help give back to the College.


Suzie Brindise is a senior in Finance and Accounting from Barrington, Illinois.  She is actively involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, Finance Academy, Business Honors, and Pi Beta Phi.  In the future, she plans to work in the financial world and then attend law school. She feels that the Legacy Committee is a great way to give back to the University and to help make a positive impact for future generations.


Julian Bulaon is a senior in the College of Business pursuing a degree in Finance. He spent this past summer interning with the Internal Audit Solutions practice at Protiviti, an independent risk consulting firm based in Chicago. In addition to his participation in Legacy, Julian also serves as President on the executive board of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. Julian was inspired to join the Legacy Campaign by a small group of close friends and mentors, some of whom were actually founding members of the original Legacy campaign. He hopes to follow in their footsteps, and to use his talents to help give the College of Business an unforgettable gift for generations to come. 


Kenny Kim is a senior in Accounting and Finance. On campus, Kenny is actively involved in Beta Alpha Psi and Finance Academy. Past summer, he participated in Social Entrepreneurship Summer Institute (SESI) and gained an insight in the non-profit organization. This semester, Kenny is excited to participate in 2009 Legacy Committee and carry out a memorable Senior Legacy Campaign.  


Andrew Lee is a junior in Finance from Urbana, IL. This past summer, he studied abroad at the University of Duesto at Bilbao in Spain. He is currently a consultant at Illinois Business Consulting, a fellow of the Golder Center for Private Equity, a Resident Advisor for University Housing and serves as the Vice-President of Mentoring at the Finance Club. He is also actively involved in Business Council and the Asian American Association. He was also an intern for the Social Entrepreneurs Summer Institute. He has found the Senior Legacy Campaign to be a great opportunity to leave a lasting impression upon the College.
