Associate Professor
Gies College of Business (Strategy, Entrepreneurship & International Business Area), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Hello! I'm an Associate Professor in the Gies College of Business (Strategy, Entrepreneurship & International Business Group) and the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My research centers on improving our understanding of the processes that fuel innovation and entrepreneurship (see the research page for more details!). I'm particularly interested in understanding how to organize in ways that better support the creation and diffusion of innovative technologies.
My work has been recognized with an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship, as well as with best paper awards from the Academy of Management, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, and the Industry Studies Association. Grants from the Kauffman Foundation, the Sloan Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR), and the Illinois Campus Research Board have supported my research.
I completed my PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining academia, I worked at Morgan Stanley & Co. and McKinsey & Co., and volunteered with the American Red Cross, focusing on issues related to refugee resettlement and education.
